Juliet in LA
I’ve always chosen colors from the “saturated” section. I guess that’s a gamble, but I like a lot of color, everywhere.
Painting: This is a portrait of my grandmother, “Mimi”. It was painted by a good friend of hers, Valera Montoro in Spain. I admire her so very much, I love getting to see her every day.
Blow-up Giraffe: Good story here! This guy’s name is Broccolini, and he moved here with my from New York. He’s a souvenir from an infamous shoot I worked on. I can’t say much more…
Pink Telephone: I bought this from OK Store in Silverlake. I think I talk a little differently when taking calls on the pink phone.
Eggs in a Bowl: My collection of pink golf balls! I actually hate the color pink, I don’t know how it’s become so prominent in my life.
Coffee Table: I got this treasure in Oklahoma City, at a Flea Market on Western Ave. It was originally a bunch of different shades of pink, and its so much stronger in stark white.
Rug: Marni! I wear a lot of Marni, that rug pulls everything together. I had to have it!
Book Collection: I have such a sincere reverence for photographers and artists of all kinds. These books are just a small part of that, they definitely inform my work as well.
Blue Wall Paint: What color? Why so bright? This is Farrow and Ball’s Drawing Room Blue. I’ve always chosen colors from the “saturated” section. I guess that’s a gamble, but I like a lot of color, everywhere.
Couch: This couch came from Junk in Williamsburg. It was hell to get it from NYC to LA, but so well worth it. I’m thinking about re-covering it, but everyone tells me not to.
Cushions: My mom made me the green pillows when I was in college, she thought they were “funky”. The neon ikat pillow came from one of my favorite stores in LA, Distant. They have a lot beautiful Turkish imports, and they also have some Uzbek china I’ve had my eye on. I’ve got to get it before someone else does.
