Some girls dream about diamonds, fabulous dresses, handbags, or marrying Ryan Gosling, but I’m going to be honest here. Sure, that all sounds awesome – and if Ryan finds himself bored of Eva Mendes and prefers a blonde, Australian girl who has super sexy ankles (i.e. me) I wouldn’t say no… But what I dream about most is to one day find myself waking up in a Nancy Meyers movie.
If you’re not familiar with the legendary film director, some hints:
- Father of the Bride
- Baby Boom
- Something’s Gotta Give
- The Holiday
My heart skipped a beat just typing that…
Nancy Meyers’ movies are kind of my all-time lady porn. They’re like the girl-version of what Terminator or Baywatch are to boys. It’s the ultimate in all things girls lovvvvve and (sorry to be crass) “get off on.” Beautiful homes, amazing food, witty dialogue, and sincere, authentic story lines – perfection!
Admittedly, I think about it a lot. I google it, watch the films, wear excessive amounts of beige, pretend to garden, and sometimes find myself dressing like Diane Keaton and lusting after Jack Nicholson. Yeah, perhaps it’s a problem, and now it’s hitting me hard because I’ve just discovered that the house from It’s Complicated is for sale.
Damn.
Located in Hidden Valley, California, the house is 6,100 square feet of real-life Nancy Meyers. Five bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, a formal dining room, and a great room that’s light and airy thanks to- wait, you’ve seen the movie… Anyway, it sits on 56-acres and costs a cool $12 mil.
Oy, this dream just got complicated… For more info, buy it here. Not sure if they accept PayPal or not, but it’s worth a shot. Happy Wednesday!

P.S. This ‘conversation’ about Nancy Meyers’ films is far from over, so let me know if you’re a Meyers freak like me. Father of the Bride Part II anyone??!
