Hey there,
Check out my little apartment today on one of my favorite sites – The Design Files, run by a girl named Lucy.
Now, Lucy and I have been corresponding about this feature for a couple of weeks. Lately, I’ve been super swamped and somewhat short with my mails, so I felt like I wasn’t making a good impression on her. However, yesterday she took me by surprise when she asked me this -
“Did you used to be a brunette and work at a café? And are you the same Pippa from Brighton who went to work at magazines in New York?”
Yes. I’m from Brighton and I work at ELLE in New York, but I never worked in a café
(*I can barely hold my knife and fork let alone two plates) and the color of my hair is a vague topic from the past that I refuse to comment on (*let it go) so naturally, I responded -
“No, that’s not me.”
But then I started to think and apply my superstar digital stalker tendencies to find that Lucy and I had been childhood friends, and even more random, that I took her brother to my school formal.
Excited as hell, I mailed her all of this. Of course, it turned out she had been thinking of a different Pippa from Melbourne, but it still really made me think – besides the obvious “Whoa, it’s such a small world,” it’s funny how you never know who you’re emailing. I was disappointed in myself that I wasn’t my normal “
!! xxx” email self which is code for “super friendly over email.”
So today’s lesson is this: be good to those on the end of the phone or email because you never know how they’ll pop up into your life. They may be a future business connection, friend, boyfriend or a cool girl you met as an eleven-year-old. It’s important to be the best version of yourself, always.
Anyway, enjoy the pics. I even vacuumed for it- hello me!
