Pop art too much, you say? Two words: Stephen Shore.
As a teenager, the guy hung with Warhol and photographed the scene at his factory, but he got famous for a different sort of aesthetic. Shore was a pioneer in the use of color film as well as elevating the simple, quiet, almost mundane moments of ‘on the road’ images. As he once said, “A picture happens when something inside connects, an experience that changes as the photographer does…”
