Name: Samuel Homan
Hometown: Dublin, Ireland
Day Job: Model
Daily Uniform: Jeans, a T-shirt, button-down and a cardigan
I have a few too many: Tattoos. I want to have most of my body covered, but for now I have to leave it be and only get small ones as tattoos tend to hold you back in modeling and in acting, too.
In the kitchen, I swear by: A sharp knife
The taste I couldn’t live without: Cinnammon
Most incredible dinner out: The Supper Club in Amsterdam, unseen five-course menu, and you’re lying on a bed for the whole evening with a live show.
I love a girl who cooks me: A dish made from the heart, with love and happiness. Food shouldn’t be made any other way.
If I could cook for anyone: I dont really have any certain people, I just want to cook for everyone. I love to feed people and I get such pleasure out of people’s reactions to my food. I never make the same dish twice, but it would have to be a big vegetable dish with mixes of every different type of vegetable and some good seasonings. And then for desserts, I think it would have to be spiced apple pie with homemade lime leaf ice cream. It’s simple but oh, so good.
The best thing(s) about Dublin: Friends and family. The way everything is so close that you can always escape to the mountains or to the sea at any given moment just to get away from it all. It’s a good thing and a bad thing, but you’re never alone—if you ever want company all you have to do is take a walk around town and you will always bump into someone you know. It’s home.
If I weren’t a model: I would be a pastry chef. But I would hope to never stop trying to be a better me.
It’s true what they say about the Irish: We are all very friendly and will always make you feel right at home! And we’re all bleedin’ massive!
My dream role: I know it’s a bit of a copout, but I’m just happy when I’m working, so my dream is to be working at what I love and doing the things that make me happy. I have been told a few times that it’s a bad thing to be a dreamer, but sometimes dreams are all you have to keep you going. Then, when they happen, at least you can say that dreams do come true. You just have to believe in you and push for what you believe in.
My top 5 meals:
1. Chicken Kiev from Eliza’a Kitchen Dublin, Ireland
2. Chicken Pad Thai from Wagamama, Dublin
3. Dim Sum from Good World, Dublin
4. Turkey burger in a bowl from The Counter, New York and Dublin
5. Thanksgiving dinner 2011 at 185 South 4th Street, Brooklyn
My Motto: Get out there and live, don’t regret. Be able to say that you either failed or succeeded, but at least you tried
