Every Girl’s LBD: Little Big Deal
Let's talk about how to have a beautiful, successful & hydrated life
It’s about that time, right? That time when we start building resolution lists, or at least feign interest in the whole “new year, new you” thing. Let’s be honest, new years resolutions are a total bust and really, it’s all about checking in with yourself every now and then to make sure you’re on top of those little big deals in your life. *Car screech* Wait, what’s a “little big deal” I hear you ask? Excellent question.
I came up with this idea a few months back when I started chatting to EveryDrop by Whirlpool Water. We wanted to do an event together but first, I had to figure out how the role of water was relevant to my life, why should I care about it, why should I tell anyone else to care about it? And how would it make my life easier/better/healthier.
So I thought, if we’re gonna do this, let’s make it fun, let’s pull together a group of awesome, like-minded women, introduce them to the totally incredible Taryn Toomey, and together we’d all work it out mind, body, and soul.
I realized I was neglecting the stupidest things–like using a moisturizer with sunscreen in it or changing my smoke detector battery–and that this was contributing to my overall stress and anxiety. Stupid, right? But you understand!
One of the biggest LBDs in my life has got to be drinking water, for two reasons: 1. I never drink enough it and by the end of the day, I feel completely strung out and dehydrated and 2. When I do drink it, it’s usually from bottles that I buy and most likely don’t recycle. Eek! So in the spirit of resolutions and breaking bad habits, I partnered with EveryDrop by Whirlpool’s Water’s team for a fun LBD-attacking morning that focused on the mind, body, and soul.
With the help of the amazing Lisa Merkle, we all met at the 24th Street Loft in Chelsea where the incredible Taryn Toomey led us through one of her renowned and 100% cathartic fitness classes (aptly titled, the class). Lined up on our custom Sous yoga mats we powered through Taryn’s intense cardio that left us all flushed and puffed. Putting off going to the gym is an obvious LBD, by the time the weekend rolls round we feel guilty and defeated. Mixing up your regime is one way to drive motivation, also signing up for class makes it harder to drum up excuses! Hot tip: It takes 60 minutes for water to travel from your stomach to your muscles, so gulp down as much of the good stuff prior to working.
After the class, my guests and I headed straight for the water bar to scull about 50 gallons of filtered water and pour ourselves cups of tea. Young hot chef Gabe Kennedy was soon on the scene to serve breakfast consisting of quinoa puddings, tomato frittatas, and some delicious pumpkin and nut creation that had everyone mmmmm-ing.
So what’s an LBD of your life? Tell me and I’ll throw some solutions your way! Check out more from EveryDrop by Whirlpool Water by visiting everydropwater.com or connect with them on Twitter or Facebook.
