Gifting, All Wrapped Up

Because first impressions are everything

When it comes to boyfriends, girlfriends, and jelly donuts—it’s what’s on the inside that counts. When it comes to gift-wrapping, we’re of the school of thought that it’s what’s on the outside that counts. Does your Starbucks gift card (totally underrated, BTW) seem a little underwhelming? Possibly, but if you add some soft fabric ribbons, personalized name tags, and bright wrapping papers you’ve got yourself a gift worthy of sitting at the fanciest of Hanukah dinner tables or underneath the most outlandish of Christmas trees.

Our advice is to pick up two kinds of wrapping paper—one in a pattern and the other in a corresponding solid color—from trusty spots like Paper Source, Kate’s Paperie, and for something a little different, Etsy! Next ribbon: go for a contrasting color to the solid paper. Finally, get crazy with tapes from Tape Brothers or Mode 4 U. Get a few girls around for a “wrapping party” (literally, any excuse will do), complete with holiday sugar cookies (Martha’s perfect recipe here) and some Baileys Irish Coffee, topped with whipped cream. Happy holidays!

A big thank you to Baileys for making the holidays that little bit sweeter!
