Jalapeño & Blood Orange Cocktail

  1. Make the blood orange syrup: Cut the jalapeño into slices then place in a frying pan on medium heat until the jalapeño slices start to sweat

  2. Add blood orange juice agave nectar to the pan. Stir all ingredients together on medium heat for 1 minute

  3. Remove from heat and pour all ingredients into a mason jar and let it steep for one hour. Once cooled, strain out the jalapeño slices. This syrup can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks

  4. *If you want more spice, leave the jalapeños in for 12 hours for a super spicy batch

  5. Prepare the cocktail: Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake well. Garnish with a blood orange wheel and an extra jalapeño slice.

  • For the blood orange syrup:
  • 1 medium-sized jalapeño
  • 8 oz of fresh blood orange juice
  • 8 oz of agave nectar
  • For the cocktail:
  • 1 ½ oz of Del maguey VIVA Mezcal
  • 1 oz of jalapeño & blood orange agave syrup
  • 1 oz of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 blood orange wheel for a garnish
